OVERVIEW
The programs offered by the Department of Human Behavior are designed
to give students a comprehensive, interdisciplinary program that will provide them with knowledge and
understanding of human behavior from sociological, psychological, educational, and philosophical
points of view.
Bachelor of Arts in Human Behavior (B.A.)
THE
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM
The Bachelor of Arts in Human Behavior program, is designed to
familiarize students with the theoretical and empirical development in both psychological and
social fields as they pertain to the human experience. The effect of cultural, educational, philosophical,
and psychological factors will be addressed. The program also prepares students to be successful
in future academic exploration in this field.
UNDERGRADUATE - General Education Course Requirements
The general education program is designed to ensure that
all American Global University graduates have a basic understanding
of certain essential areas of knowledge. The general education program
sets minimal requirements. Most departments of major study require additional
courses in these areas, which are listed under the individual major
degree requirements.
PREREQUISITES
High school
diploma or equivalent and demonstrating the ability to succeed in undergraduate
study.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
The total semester
units required for graduation are as follows: unit requirement for general education is dependent upon
the past experience of the applicant; 72 semester units in core courses; 6 semester units in elective
courses. The student may choose to pursue an area of concentration where the electives are
predetermined. The student must complete a minimum of 70 units while enrolled at American Global
University. Comprehensive evaluation and counseling are most important at this degree level.
Master of Arts in Human Behavior (M.A.)
THE
GRADUATE PROGRAM
The Master of Arts in Human Behavior
program is designed to assist students in acquiring the knowledge they will need, in order to
achieve their goals in facilitating positive changes in their society and culture. This program
also aids students by enhancing the research skills. The goal of students should be to understand
not only the history and future of humanity, but also the chronological path that it takes from one to
the other.
PREREQUISITES
A Bachelor’s Degree
in Human Behavior, Psychology or a related field from an accredited or acceptable institution of
higher education, or the equivalent of 126 semester units of applicable or acceptable undergraduate
work as determined by the school’s admission committee.
The ability to demonstrate the capacity to
succeed in study at the graduate level.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Master
of Arts in Human Behavior is 36 semester units above the Bachelor's Degree. A minimum
of 21 units of graduate work must be completed at American Global University.
A thesis that is an independent study
relevant to the student’s field of study.
Doctor of Philosophy in Human Behavior (Ph.D.)
THE
PROGRAM
The Doctor of Philosophy in Human Behavior program is designed
for students who wish to do advanced research in acquiring the first-hand knowledge from primary
sources that they will need, in order to achieve their goals in facilitating positive changes in their
society and culture. The goal of students should be to understand not only the history and future of
humanity, but also the chronological path that it takes from one to the other.
PREREQUISITES
Possession of a
Master’s Degree in Human Behavior or related field from an accredited or acceptable institution
of higher learning, or possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited or acceptable
institution of higher learning or completion of a minimum of 36 semester units of applicable
graduate level study.
Demonstration of the ability to succeed in
graduate study at the doctoral level.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
The Doctor of Philosophy
in Human Behavior is 42 semester units above the Master’s Degree level. A minimum of 30 units must be completed at
American Global University.

Post-Doctoral Certificate in Human Behavior
PREREQUISITES
A
bachelor's degree or equivalent, a masters degree or equivalent,
and a doctoral degree or equivalent in Human Behavior or a related field
from accredited or acceptable* institutions of higher education are
required for admission into this certificate program.
Additionally, students must have attained a minimum of a B
grade average from his or her doctorate program to be accepted into
this certificate program.
* Acceptable colleges/universities are licensed/approved
by the relating/corresponding government or state.

The programs offered by the Department of Psychology are
designed for self-motivated students who wish to engage in a problem-centered
approach to learning and to integrate personal development with their
professional training. The curriculum will help students develop the
analytical skills needed to understand complex human processes. It will
also expose them to both the history and progression of thought and
the latest research and findings in the field of psychology.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (B.A.)
THE
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology combines the interdisciplinary
focus of the liberal studies program with a psychology major which prepares
the student for graduate study or work in an entry level human service
position.

THE
GRADUATE PROGRAM
The Masters of Arts program in
Psychology intends to prepare the students for entering into the doctoral
program in clinical psychology as defined, approved, and licensed by
the States Licensing Board. This degree is not terminal (depending
on States mandates), and is a prerequisite for entering the doctoral
program in psychology.
In addition, the graduates from the Ph.D. and Psy.D.
Program will be academically and experientially prepared to function
as a clinical psychologist as defined and qualified by the Licensing
Board. The same definition and qualification by the appropriate Licensing
Board will also apply to the graduates of M.F.C.C. Furthermore, the
Department of Psychology will academically as well as practically familiarize
the students with the statistical and research methodology so instrumental
in the scientific advancement of the field.

Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology (Ph.D.)
THE
PROGRAM
The doctoral program in psychology is a terminal degree
program developed for the purpose of academically and experientially
preparing the students for professional practice in metal health field,
namely clinical psychology. The program is so designed as to meet the
State requirements for license. Only M.A. in Psychology, M.A. in Counseling,
and M.A. in social work are acceptable as prerequisites for this degree
program.

of a Bachelors degree in psychology or a related field from an
accredited or acceptable institution.

Masters Degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited
or acceptable institution.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Completion
of 79 Psy.D. units in Clinical Psychology above a Masters degree.*
A minimum of 50%
of graduate work must be completed at the American Global University.
A dissertation must
be an independent study relevant to the students field of study.
* The Psy.D. program will be equivalent to the
Ph.D. with the exception that instead of Dissertation, the students
should do a Research Project (6 units).

PREREQUISITES

and a doctoral degree or equivalent in psychology or a related field
from accredited or acceptable* institutions of higher education are
required for admission into this certificate program.

total includes 36 core course credit hours and 9 elective credit hours.

meaning a maximum of 15 credit hours will be accepted for transfer into
this program. (The credits in this program are transferable to any AGU
applicable programs.)

completion of 30 credit hours is required to receive this certificate.
This
total includes 24 core course credit hours and 6 elective credit hours.

required credit hours must be taken through American Global University, meaning no transfer credit will be accepted
for this program. (The credits in this program are transferable to any AGU
applicable programs.)
